St. Clair County Jail

The new 55,000-square-foot St. Clair County Jail is located on 18th Street across from the existing court and houses 323 inmates—far more than the 140 the former Pell City facility could house. Prefabricated modular cells—complete with beds, plumbing, windows, and doors—were initially constructed off-site to help save time on overall construction of the facility. The project was also bid in eight separate packages to accelerate construction. State-of-the-art technology allows for guards to manage lights, cameras, doors, and water flow from a central location. More importantly, the new facility keeps both the inmates and staff safe.
